Job Description
Choir Director/Musician
Scope of Authority:
- The Choir Director/Musician is responsible for music related functions at Bethel Bible Fellowship.
- The Choir Director/Musician shall report to the Worship Ministry leader in the development and management of the music ministry at Bethel Bible Fellowship.
Qualifications
- Formal training and/or experience in playing church music. More specifically, but not limited to traditional hymns, contemporary and traditional gospel, charismatic praise, praise and worship.
- Church Worship and choir management.
- Able to provide accompaniment on an electric keyboard.
Personal Qualifications
- Must be a professing Christian, believing the Bible as the inerrant word of God.
- Reflects spiritual maturity with a desire for continual growth
- Has a personal life of purity and holiness
- Adhere to the Bethel Bible Fellowship vision statement.
- Able to agree to the church’s doctrinal statement
- Submit to a background check
Specific Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of the Choir Director/Musician at Bethel Bible Fellowship include:
- Choir supervision by leading and overseeing the Bethel Bible Fellowship Choir
- Identifying, choosing and teaching songs to the choir and praise singers
- Selecting appropriate music for Sunday and special event worship services that will enhance the church’s worship experience
- Managing the praise ministry functions by organizing the Praise Team
- Leading Praise Team and choir rehearsals weekly or as deemed necessary for quality ministry at Sunday morning and special worship services.
- Reviewing, selecting and overseeing the purchase of new music that enhances the atmosphere of praise and worship at Bethel Bible Fellowship.
- Providing appropriate accompaniment for all worship experiences.
- Accompany the Pastor and/or choir to various outside ministry opportunities.
Accountability
- For the first year, the Choir Director/Musician will be given a quarterly review by the Worship Ministry Leader that will serve as an informal evaluation of the director’s performance as well as discuss strengths and areas for growth.
- Upon completion the first year and every year after, the Choir Director/Musician shall receive an annual review administered by the Head Pastor and Worship Ministry Leader.
Contract
- The Choir Director/Musician shall commit to a 1 year contract that consists of a 3 month probationary period.
